Flight ban leaves travellers from India, Pakistan in limbo [Video]

Madhu Lall, along with his wife Samira and in-laws Ratna and Samir Sen, travelled to India after a family home had suffered serious damage.

They arrived in March and planned to return in May, but their flight was cancelled when Canada announced a ban on flights from India. Their rescheduled flight for late May was also cancelled when the ban was extended.

“I think we have been totally stymied,” said Mr. Lall, in a phone interview from New Delhi. “We hit a stone wall and we really don’t know how to proceed.”

After meeting with Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari on July 29 in Delhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed that she had requested the Minister for proper road connectivity, transport and manufacturing industries in the state. I requested that it will be good if we have manufacturing industries in our state that will manufacture electric buses, electric autos and electric scooters. Our state shares borders with Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and the north-eastern states. So, we need proper roads, said Mamata Banerjee. (ANI)
